I had a question as to the B or D or whatever what in front of the 81 on the body code....its the interior trim scheme...The B is Blue woven plastic & blue vinyl w/foam cushion....same as my beast....anyone with a good original seat they lookin to part with ?
The interior codes are on pg 5 of book one of the 65 set....
Good point, CS65. An "A" or a "B" after the code will most definately indicate the truck is a Standard Cab or a Custom Cab. Unfortunately, in keeping with Ford's policy of security by obscurity, the "A" and "B" indices are frequently missing.
To further confuse the issue, what the shop manual doesn't indicate is that the "A" or "B" may be stamped in front of the body style code - but the parts manual does point this out. (As if attempting to reduce the confusion by injecting more confusion??!!) Therefore, it was up to the service man to look at what was actually installed in the truck, reference the Warranty Plate details, then get the updated information from the parts manuals.
As you have indicated, if he has a blue front seat with the imprimatur of simulated weaving, then he has a Custom Cab with blue woven plastic and vinyl.
Does he??
Let us know, Cyrus!
I'm almost sure I do have the blue vinyl and plastic seat with the "imprimatur of simulated weaving" if I seen a picture of this I could verify. I'm not planning on fixing the truck up original so when I started dismantling it for the off frame rebuild I didn't pay much attention to the seat and just chunked it aside. I believe the "back" of the seat is in good condition, and not the part you sit on but I’d have to look again when I see my truck next (this weekend). If it's in a wantable condition I’d be willing to give it away.
I am in the middle of an article on the differences in Northern and Southern religious climates which influenced South Carolina's Secession in 1860, so the word "imprimatur" slipped in there somehow. Sorry about that!
If your seat plastic looks like it was woven, but the "weave" is actually embossed or pressed into it, then you do have the "woven" plastic. It was a very nice looking seat.
If so, then you may want to reconsider keeping your set, and have it recovered as it was originally.
I see said the blind man! Well the plans for the truck include a "460" 545ci, roll cage, 6 point racing harness, 4 wheel disc brakes..Etc. so I’m not worried about having the original seat.
As far as how long it will take, it'll be awhile i just got my frame torn down and hopfully by the end of next month i'll have it painted. As far as pictures go i've got it on camcorder (thinking there was a way to pull still pictures off of it with the help of a computer program) but now i'm not so sure i can do that. but i'll probably end up going out and buying a cheap digtal camera.

Hi, can you help me with my vin. I don't see how you get the birthdate from those numbers. My VIN is F10JN381287. I believe it is a 1961 but I'm not sure. My title shows the year it was registered in my state as 1965.
Thanks
