My ignition switch is not locked into position and rotates around. In order to investigate why, I need to remove the switch. I know how it is removed......pushing on the switch from behind and rotating counterclockwise....but it won't turn loose. As I turn it, I can feel it move out of a "notch", but it won't pull free. I have used excessive force with no luck. Any ideas? Thanks
Not sure from post if you have removed the lock cylinder. Has to be removed in order to get switch out. What works best for me, is to place key in lock and turn to ACC position. With key in ignition, use paperclip, or something simular, insert into small hole in lock cylinder enough to unseat small ball then turn key counter clockwise, or to the left.
If the cylinder is turning in the lock mechanism, suggest positioning cylinder where you can see the small ball then insert the clip and with key in ignition turn counter clockwise. Don't need to force ball, just enough to unseat.
Not sure much help.
Good luck,
dave

I was amazed that when I turned the ignition to the "ACC" position that the ball previously referenced was so apparent. My small contribution is that you don't need to push the paperclip in very far, once the paperclip makes contact, you only need to push it in a sixteenth of an inch or so then immediately turn the key counterclockwise so that it is horizontal in the lock body and it slides out easy as can be.
Same process installing, move the ball so the key mechanism can travel all the way to the left, then insert lock into the housing, may have to fiddle with it a little, once seated then turn to the 'on' position, this will secure the entire assembly together. By the way, Welcome to FTE Gregory.
