Installed my Gibson exhaust, all ok, Installed my K&N cold air intake, all ok, Installed by Diablo chip, all ok. Installed my JBA headers, now my check engine soon light is on. Checked all the electrical connections. They are all ok. Any ideas?
Go to autozone and have them pull the codes for you. It takes 5 min. and is free. Then you will know where to start. My guess is probably an oxygen sensor.
Is it running lean? Have you taken the chip out and tried running it without the chip? See if that fixes it. If so, call Motorhaven or wherever you bought the chip from to get it fixed.
I had the same prob about a month ago. I replaced the egr valve, but no good. Then I cleaned the pipe that feeds the egr valve and got a egr excessive code. Turns out it was the dpfe sensor. This sensor is just before your egr valve, it has 2 little pipes coming to it off of the main pipe that feeds the egr valve and an electrical plug. Cost was about 34.00. I had to get it at the Ford dealer, because the local autozone, advance, pep boys, etc. did not carry it.
Think it's a cold start problem with the chip. I've driven about 950 mi. since the problem. I've let the truck warm up before switching to the performance mode. No service engine soon light doing this.
Double checked everything after the light came on. All seemed ok. Like I said, as long as I start the truck and let it warm up with the chip off, I haven't had any light.
