The friggin OD light keeps flashing. I know this is the trans in "limp" mode. So the trans will shift firm and so on. the problem is, I took to a shop. there was 2 codes. One was the FIPL switch was out of range, so we replaced the FIPL or TPS as normal people call it. Then the other was the TACH switch was daed. So after replacing both these. the codes were eliminated then I took home. I drove about 20 miles, then the friggin light blinked again! this time there was about 6 engine codes! CRAP!!!! I took it back to the shop they erased the codes after them telling me they were wierd codes not in thier scanners ability to deciefer them. They have a snap on scanner that I noticed. Anyways............They couldnt get any codes to appear, until I got home about 10 miles dowen the road its blinking again. I have only had this truck for two weeks and now am wondering why the person sold it? I bought it used, duh. It is a 92' ford f-350 with a 7.3 liter diesel and a E4OD trans. We are (shop and I) both at wits end. Any help?????????
Check the wiring harness on the side of the tranny, if I remember correctly there are connections on both the drivers and passengers side, take good look that the loom that runs across the top of the tail shaft housing. You might have a wiring problem. Look for scuffs and such. Might be that easy, if not, I am at a loss.
I have had a similar problem with my truck as well.93 F250 S/C 4X4.
the first time it happened I had to have a tranny replaced.. the second time the same thing... both times the toruque converter went south... this last tranny has bveen great although upon occation I have had the light come on and the tranny go into limp mode... if I stop and turn the truck of for a couple minutes everythign goes back to normal...was just curious if that was happening to you as well...
the next time I go to the tranny shop I will have them have a good look at that wiring harnes to make sure it is in good shape..perhaps that is what my problem is as well...
