FIPL Switch Code

I replaced the FIPL switch a while ago and reset it a few times and now it reads all the way up to 1.21 at idle and passes all of the other voltage checks mentioned in other threads (ground and power feed readings).

My 93, 7.3 idi 83K mile crew cab truck keeps throwing the flashing OD light after I reset it by disconnecting the batteries. Sometimes it's after a 30 mile drive, and sometimes it'll go 100 miles before it starts to flash again (it's never turned off by itself).

Every time I get the FIPL switch code, and I'm also getting 62 which is torque coverter slippage.

No to my question:
I seem to recall that the FIPL code with ALWAYS be shown when there's a trans problem unless something is done before retrieving the codes-- but I CAN'T for the life of me find that post again... Or maybe I'm just hallucinating and that's simply not true.

Can someone put that to rest? Do I need to do something (like disconnect the FIPL before pulling codes) to not get a "default" FIPL code? Or will the FIPL code only show if there is a problem with the FIPL switch or wiring circuit?

FWIW: I use the jumper wire and flashing light counting method to get the codes.

You need to hold the gas pedal to the floor or you will always get that code.
