Transfer case probs

My electronic shift transfer case has some probs. First, it wont go into 4Lo. I have it in neutral, foot on the brake, but it wont go. 4Hi works fine, accept sometimes it wont disengage when im moving and has a hard time engaging when its cold. Im not really upset, just curoius as to what, if anything can be done. thanks

I have the same problem with my '98 Ranger. I would like some answers becaus my truck is stuck in 4HI right now! Anything would help.

These are the problems that plague the electronically controlled transfer cases. Its the soleinod thats the problem over time these wear out and get stuck into whatever gear you are in. There are cable actuated upgrades you can get to slove this problem.

I took it to the dealer and they said it's the shift motor on the t-case. Thats about $400 that I won't see again. I think I am going to start looking for a manual shift t-case to swap in for the future.
