check engine lt.

hi guys, dont come to the 4banger forum often, so nice to meet ya

check engine lt is on. its a mazda, so I guess thats about the same as a ford right? the MAF sensor says ford on it.....

anyhow, is the check engine lt. tripped at mileage intervals for maintenance, or just if the computer detects a problem? I intend to take it and have codes scanned, but curiosity is killing the cat, it only has 32,750 miles on it

My 97 Ranger has never had a CEL. It is at 100k km now, so I personally don't believe the "time for service" theory.
At 32k, your truck is still under warranty, yes?
