bell housing question

does the 460 use the same bell housing as the FE's or isw it different
If there not the same does anyone know of a used scatter proof bellhousing for the 460 i can find them for the smallblock fords, FE's, chevys, and mopars, but none for the bigblock fords

No, the 429/460 bellhousings do not match the FE pattern.

Not sure about used but you can buy them new from Jegs. They fit 1968-78 351M-400's and 429-460's. Part number is 620-15220, sell for $326

The 460 pattern is more of a traditional trapazoid pattern, whereas the FE pattern is very round - not compatible.

Certainly flywheels/flexplates can swap between the two however.

Lakewood has bellhousings and are also in the $300ish range like the Jegs.
