1. How many big rigs do you see, or even true medium duty trucks, that have Isuzu diesels? International has been around forever and has an excellant reputation for their diesel engines. By the way, International hasn't had any problems with the VT 365, their version of the 6.0 PSD.
3. I posted actual results, post some information that shows otherwise. The Duramax sounds different at idle, but I don't perceive this as "quieter." Once the Duramax pilot injection shuts off it adds a bit of noise as well.
New numbers for the for the 04's arn't out yet but it is significantly quiter then the '03
Might want to get out of the 60's and join the rest of us in the 21st century. You would not believe how many of the parts on your Ford are of asian origin! If you can't handle that, I think your only option is to mine your own ore, smelt it into steel, buy a milling manchine and make your own car!
I agree, Ford will work their problems out. Unfortunately, us early buyers end up suffering through this!
I am not in the 60s. the asian parts are far less than a Chevy. I have had great Fords & I have had some lemons too but as far as I am concerned Ford builds a better truck then any other kind I have owned 75 trucks since high school. And own 4 now soon to be 6 so I should know what I am talking about. 66coupenw in the 60s the Americans bought more American stuff then now. Now adays a lot of Americans rather buy from other countrys and hurt our selfs. So yes the 60s were great. Also a good rule of thumb I learned about buying trucks is that if a new motor is on the market wait until they have the bugs worked out before you buy yes I want a 6.0 but I am going to play the waiting game then it will be a hot ticket. It is plain commencence.
I don't want to offend anyone, but I get really tired of this mech says this and he is the expert for blah-d-blah blah blah reasons. For every expert that says that, there is one that says the same thing about each of the other trucks. Why, because they are probably a little biased. They are brand loyal or maybe they have seen some statistical abnomilty that supports their claim. What ever, I do not believe they are the end all in information.
For the record, this is my first diesel.
I do know, this is my second ford, (not in a row), Had two chevies before, (not in a row) had one dodge, and three toyotas. Yes, I am a toyota fan. But I also believe all of the big three's offerings are good, but all have some problems. I have liked certian points of each of the trucks, disliked others. Hate to say it, but this latest one is one of the worst for little problems. Chevy had the same kind but different problems. Dodge, just didn't seem as-well built, but no real problems until mileage got up there.
I will bad mouth any manufacturer (both ford and chevy here,) that have been building any vehicle as long as they have and still have problems that should have been corrected 30 years ago. My 6.0 has problems, I know that and I hope it is corrected fairly soon. The other problems are BS and I believe they should be corrected.

Again no offence taken. I never said this guy was an "expert" although others in the community consider him that. He may very well be loyal to a certain brand I am unable to speak to that as he never said anything to me. I know he works on big rigs of all types, large heavy equipment from road graders to back hoe's. He works on MF, John Deere, Ford, New Holland, Case, and Kuboto's that I am aware of. He works on Ford, Dodge, and GM trucks also. I have never heard him say a bad word about the latter three. He drives a Dodge BTW.

Don't be too sure about this! Just because a part has a good ol' American name on it, like Motorcraft or Delco or Bendix or whatever, it still very likely has it's roots overseas. These American brand companies are the biggest importers of auto parts out there!

Unfortunately you can thank the unions for that. They've shot themselves in the foot by making it nearly impossible to manufacture anything cost competitively in this country any more.
