Hello everyone my 95 F150 has developed a strange problem that I cant figure out. My engine is a 5.0 EFI with mass air and an auto trans, mileage is about 107K. Okay now for the problem, when I'm acelerating with light to medium throttle my truck is bogging real bad in the low rpm range 1200 to 2300 rpm range, it feels like the timing is being retarded then when you get to the 2300 rpm+ range it feels like the timing advance kicks in and it suddenly wakes up.
I have checked my base timing and it is set fine, the cap, plugs, rotor are all fairly new and were put on after this problem started. Any ideas would really be apreciated.
I'm not too familiar with that year truck, but did the 5.0's still have a knock sensor? You might also want to try cleaning the heated wires in the MAF sensor. I don't know if that would cause it to bog like you say, but it can't hurt anything. Might also want to check your TPS voltages.
MAF? TPS? Try unplugging MAF and accelerate, if it is better, clean or replace. Unplugging the spout connector will keep timing from being computer advanced.
Thanks for the input guys, I scanned for codes and none were stored in the computer, I've checked and cleaned the mass air sensor and it looked okay. The knock sensor sounds like something I should check out. Does anyone know where it's located?
