429 Boss

Question ??? , will a set of alm. cyl head's fit a 429 or 460 engine & if they do, would the work good or Great ! The local shop down the shop sell's EM . But I'm asking you guy's not him. He build's Boss 429 Race engines. And bought the molds from Ford years back . He can only build alm. blocks & heads
I have a 460-4v prem fuel ,from a 72 lincon w/ c-6 I could put in my next 65cc sb

Are you referring to Carol Carter in Manassas?

Aluminum heads such as the Edelbrock Performer RPM or the new Trick Flow street head would work fine on your engine...

To use a Boss head on a standard 429 will require you to do more than just run the heads...for a start the Boss 429 had different rods and pistons. The pistons have a unique dome to fit the profile of the Boss head. You'll also need to buy the Boss valve covers, intake manifold, have headers custom built, etc.

Unless money is no issue with you it would be much cheaper to purchase a set of aftermarket heads like the Edlebrocks.

As Deen said, unless you have some pretty deep pockets, you would be better off with the TF, Edelbrock or Ford CJ aluminum heads. Personally, I like the Trick Flows the best. Better flow numbers than the Edelbrocks (almost even with the Ford aluminum CJ head) and still use the smaller intake port for more bottom end "oomph" only down side is TF is running about a 2 week backorder from time of order to delivery on the new heads (mine are due in next weds)

I think the new Ford aluminum SCJ heads are the best aftermarket aluminum wedge stock-type heads out there.

As for this Carol Carter, how much do his Boss heads cost????
