I was wondering if a nos system on a well built 400 is to much this would be a luxury item not for serious 4-wheeling. Doese anyone know if this will hurt anythig if used on highway traveling

There is a legal kit that operates at wide open throttle (WOT). That would save your temptation of hitting it on the low end, which would be eventual if not immediate detriment to an engine pushing a 5000 lb bronco. First thing's first, make sure you don't have cast pistons, or you will definitely have problems. Forged are recommended, while a lot of folks do fine with good hyperutectic pistons. All that said, it's probably a waste, but if you are serious, check out the NO vendors like NOS, or Nitrous Works for advice or FAQ's.
