Early or late model 99 Ford??
They seem to catagorize the F250's in either the "1999 built before 12/9/98" and then another catagory that states "99.5 through 2003"
I've got a 99 F250 and the mfgrs decal inside the door indicates it was built in 2/99. I'm not sure in which catagory mine belongs?? is this the later model??

I'd be able to tell ya if you are able to show a picture of the top of your engine. The 'Y' pipe for the intercooler is differant from the 99 than in the 99.5 and up. Also, I think that the early 99s had the regular injectors like my 97, and the 99.5+ have the split shot injectors, but I could be wrong there.
Also, if you have the towing mirrors and if they dont extend, I believe that to be a sign of an early 99.

The first 99.5 was engine serial number 0896812. I'm not certain but I think it was built sometime in December 1998. Your engine serial number is either on a label toward the front of the drivers side valve cover or stamped onto the block at the rear oil cooler header (above the oil filter).

hey if your truck body style looks like the 2000-2003 then you have a 99.5 or over. mine was made in januaray 99 and its the new body style so its ove the 99.5

The early 99s have a catalitic converter and a muffler, the late 99s only have a muffler on the bottom side plus all the other stuff mentioned above.:-)

The easiest way to spot an early 99 with the diesel is where the diesel tag is on the truck. Early 99's have a V8 symbol on the front fender just like the gassers do, the later 99's have it posted on the doors. There are many subtle changes between the early production SD's and the latter, but that is the easiest way to spot an early.
By the way I'm an early edition owner (built 4/98) and it doesn't bother me a bit to have a catalytic converter one bit. It's nothing that a sawzall can't take care of.

Early or late model 99 Ford??
I have a early 99 born on 10-98 its badge is on the door and has a cat and the early air box. some 99 and some 99.5 stuff on it. a Friend has a 2oo2 and i think mine runs better
