I have a 2003 Excursion with a 6.0L Diesel Engine. After doing the math, I'm getting about 16 MPG. But my overhead panel says I'm getting 14.5 MPG. Will the overhead panel reading go up to the correct MPG?
For what its' worth my dealer told me to reset the trip computer every time you fill to help it regain its' accuracy. You do that by holding both buttons down at the same time until it zeros out. From what I've read on this board the trip computers are not that accurate but when I've compared mine to the longhand it comes out almost always right on and I do reset the values at each refill.
You are one of the FEW that the lie-o-meter overhead shows lower than actual !!!!
I don't trust the overhead at all... I just use it for trends --- it went up or it went down...
I just use it to gauge how much fun I had the last tank!
but 16 around town is great for an 8k lb truck !
Got a predator for it yet ???
If not, increase the grin-factor AND fuel mileage --- get one !
