The carrier is the cup looking thing that the release bearing sits on top of the spring on the slave cylinder. I don't know what it does other than hold the bearing. I just seem to remember the parts guys saying replace it.
As for my starting problems, yes the fuel comes out of the line when the key is on. It may not be the best place, but the easiest one I found was as the fuel filter. I disconnected the line on the back of the fuel filter. That was a bad idea, fuel came out of the filter and I had a pan under to catch. I shoved a water bottle on the end of the line and turned the key. Oh yea, I also reset the inertia switch just for good measure. I don't know how much is supposed to come out, but about 1-2oz came out. So I think the fuel is flowing fine, but still no fire. Distributor felt tight, I didn't look under the cap. I also cleaned the battery connectors, still no good. I am lost now.
