We have a 95 7.3 PS. Do they make a Allison transmission upgrade for our truck?
Thanks for any replies!
BTW, we took boards advise and used diesel kleen for the first time this weekend. Pulling camper and horsetrailer about 15,000 pds over two passes. We noticed significant difference in pulling power. As for the milage...to soon to tell. We made it to our destination in record time with our PS purring like a kitten.

The Allison 1000, 2000 and 2400 series use the same case and are used in the Chevy pickup and much heavier medium duty trucks. They are a bit larger in size than the E4OD. The parts would be available to do the conversion but it would not be in kit form, you would have to assemble. The cost would probably be outrageous. You would either have to get that big stacked plate cooler in the lower radiator tank somehow (not impossible with brass) or use an inline cooler in the lower radiator hose with a section of pipe to get it back to the water pump intake (more likely scenario). Controller for the transmission would be standalone.
Probably a better option would be to get your E4OD rebuilt by one of the upfitters to a much stronger and harsher version, or convert to manual.
No, because the transmission controller for the 5W110 expects a 6.0 ECM to talk to at this stage. Maybe someone will come up with it someday but not for some years, if ever.
thanks for the reply. will show husband this post. Guess it is off to the Ford dealership to pick out a new truck! grrrrrrr........just got this one paid off!

Is it pretty easy to improve the stock transmission? I've heard that the torque converter on the '99s are not that good, and I can kinda can tell that, since the shifts tend to slide instead of hit each gear. I would like to improve it, and don't know if that can be done by getting a performance chip that will affect the shifts or if I'll have to do work on the tranny?
Look into brians truck shop, He builds the E40D and the 4R100 trans pretty good. Im running one in my truck with a chip injectors and turbo, soon to be about 400-450 at the rear wheels and i have not had a problem with mine. www.brianstruckshop.com
Thanks for the reply. I've seen other posts talking about BTS trannys. Sounds like they are a pretty reputable company, I might have to give them a call and see what they can do.
