That my friend is a Super Camper Special Bed!! Very rare. I am no SCS guru but I do know that a lot of people would darn near shoot, maim, and destroy for a SCS bed with no rust. If it is being given away take it and run. I know some SCS folks will be here shortly to give more info. Oh....the wheel well is so far back because these trucks had a longer wheelbase (144 I think) to accomodate slide-in campers and tow fifth wheels. They were one hoss of a truck.

Can you get the bed or the whole truck for free. I would definitly pick up the bed because you could sell it and make some quick cash. The bed is definitly on the wrong truck. What kind of condition is the bed in?
This is true you have a SCS 140" wheelbase 73-79 bed with fold down spare tire door. I have had a couple of these...Myself and many others consider this truck as the Baddest one from the seventies..Mine ran 14 sec 1/4's and could pull any thing around bumper to bumper..That bed in good shape IS GOLD....just a handful of these trucks left...I've been lookin..
EDIT:
The bed only came on F-350 regular cab, 140" wheelbase 2wd trucks...73-79. called the Super Camper Special.
dont kill me for sayiin this ..I have considered chopping one...I would like a supercab on a 140 truck...ford never did it so....if ya cut about 25-30 inches off the front of that RARE SCS bed .....someone take this cut off wheel away from me...humm....i think a 140 " SCS cuper cab with the cool short tail would be killer...dont you...
trust Me....I consider myself a guru on SCS trucks and ...WOULD NEVER cut up a good bed....noooo noooo....now if the bed front and spare door were to be rusted out then...ya of course ....I do have a straight jacket....It keeps me from sellin everything and buying every SCS I see across the country for sale...I'll keep my Lotto dream to myself ...just think a couple hundred SCS trucks to play with ...
