I got a letter from AAA today about how they can save me money on insurance and for like a 100 buck a year i can join there motor club. I read all the fine print and it sounds too good to be true that if i brak down i get towed a 100 miles free. Has anyone every had any dealings with them Im fixing to have to start comuting in a old truck for work and school and It sounds good for 100 bucks a year .
Triple A does save you money on towing if you use it.
I purchased it a few years ago after & tow cost me $75.00 for 5 miles. Ever since then I have used it to my advantage. I even was towed 500 miles once to get my car back home. AAA only covered the first 100 but then I got a deal on the rest of the charges becasue of the AAA membership.
I also used it for friends & other family members so I alsway got my use out of the membership fees.
I have AAA ins,and road service. They used to have AAAplus which you could have your car or truck tow up to 100 miles, now the max is (I think)10mi.If you like I will dig out my roadservice manual and give you all the info.

I have AAA plus road service. I get cheaper car insurance with American Family.
i travel quite a bit, sometimes i take customers out for a social drink or two, being in a strange town, i don't want to drink and drive, so i call AAA, tell them my truck won't start, they send a tow truck, i slip the driver a twenty and he tows my truck to my hotel or home , no harm no foul. this only happens once in a blue moon. doing it this way, i'm not a risk to other drivers or myself, or look at it this way spend a hundred and get towed, or spend $5000+ and a couple of nights in jail and everything eles that go along with a DUI...just my .02's
Sounds to me like the good ol ins ag are puttin it to us here in mich again!I will have to dig out my membership services, but seems to me the only thing they were offering us was long distance towing for your rv

Reminds me of one of my friends.A few years ago,the shop I was working at had a 2car hauler that I used for wrecker runs.My friend calls me up at about 2 in the morning wanting me to come get him from the bar cause he is plowed.well I go get him,he barfs (In truck) then passes out.I take him home, wash him off,put him to bed. Then I tell his wife not to let him know where his car is that I am taking it home on the flatbed.HeHe.The next morning he calls me all upset saying somebody stole his car.Well, his wife and I played him along for about 4 hrs,but she did not know that he had called the cops and reported his car stolen.Well the fun ended when the cops about beat my front door down, when I answered the door they were standing there guns drawn and not very happy. It took both his wife and myself alot of explaining to keep them from hauling me off.But to this day I still tease him about it!
My parents have (had) AAA. The towing thing came in handy a couple of times (imagine that, a chevy van had to be towed, and an asian car, huh whoda thunk it), but only a few times. We also saved a chunk o' change on a hotel in New York on a trip up there. I guess if you use it it's not a bad deal. And the towtruck designated driver thing- on New Years Eve, AAA does a thing where if your a member and get a little buzzed, you can call em up nd they'll send a wrecker and tow you and your car home for free I think.
