I was watching COPS last night like I usually do before going to bed. One clip was a persuit with an F-150 (97-03) chasing some little sports car. The video was being taken from a cruiser just behind. When I first saw the F-150 I was thinking, sweet, and then to make it even better, the F-150 pulled up next to the car which then tried to force the F-150 off the road, yeah right. The truck then pulled in front of the car, which was at this time trying franitcally to get back out in front. The car then tried to trick the F-150 by making a last second swerve towards an exit ramp, which it missed and went out of control into the grass. They were going well over 100 at times so I'm guessing that the F-150 wasn't exactly stock, but still it was an awesome show of what an F150 can do. I'm sure a Ram or Silverado would have been able to keep up too, but this particular story involves a Ford. Sorry if this thread wasn't technical enough for the forum, but I couldn't resist.
Sounds like we have some ford fans on COPS. Somebody definetly likes fords on that set. It always nice to see either ford cars or trucks on a T.V. show. Who says those F-150s cant go 100 m.p.h. I have never done that. Maybe it was a lightening.
I don't see much technical comparison in this thread. Ah well. Anyways, I have seen F-150s, Super duties (Yes super duties), Silverados and Rams with the cop lights on top around here. Haven't seen them go on chases, i think they are mainly for those good ol off road rascals around here
I have seen several F-150 SuperCrews as unmarked police vehicles around here. BTW, Cops is not a set. It is reality TV. Ford cars (Crown Victoria's) are synonomus with cop cars.
It was a reg cab long box, maybe 4x4, but hard to tell because of the video quality. It was the best thing I've seen for quite a while. I was all into the video, and my soon to be wife was just looking at me like, what am I getting myself into with this guy. She comes from a Dodge family so at Holidays we give each other hard times about our trucks. At least I'm driving the one that has never broken down. But that;s another thread.
I love seeing our trucks on TV! As for the speed, I have the 97 reg cab longbox 4X4 ORP & cruised @ 92 mph while in a convoy of F150's. I don't have a chip so I kept it there - I hear it cuts out @ 95-98 mph w/o a chip. I have to say - it was darn comfortable @ that speed!
umm the cop f-50 around here is a ext cab long bed with a 9in rearend posi and a 5.4L super charged , chip intake and headders. seen it at the local sears friday night car show. it had some thing else just cant think of what it is i'll rember at 3 am
i can't remember which mag i saw this in but it said that the arizona state pd runs a heavily modified mid 80's mustang.any one here from az that can verifiy that?
