Does anyone know what all I need to do in order to install a PA system on my '79 F-150? I'm assuming I'll have to put in a CB radio and speaker somewhere....but where? And how? Thanks!!
You need the CB Radio.. You can hook the power to the cigarette lighter, the ground u can screw into the floorboard or firewall. You need a speaker, which a 50watt one from Radioshack is like $40. You also need a plug to hook the speaker cable from the Speaker to the CBRadio. I have one in my truck, if u need pics i can take them so you can see where i mounted everything.
would you please post the pics? i am interested in doing this also in my 79 4x4, can i wire the cb directly to the battery? i ask because my cigarette lighter doesn't work
For the speaker there are special speakers just for a pa speaker, mine was $12.99 at a local 4x4 shop. Also, when you get a cb, make sure it has the pa ability, most of the $35 ones do not. Do not plug the pa into the external speaker hole. I mounted my pa speaker on the radiator support pointing towards the firewall. Most of them are all weather.
