Hey all, Happy Holidays! Got a question for you. I own a 2002 F-250 PSD, 4X4. More importantly though, I also own a beautiful 5 month old baby girl. My question is this... When little Miss Ella falls asleep in my truck and we get home and it is dark, everytime I open my door to get out the dome light comes on and wakes her up! I hate to admit this, but I used to own a Z71, and all I had to do was rotate the dome light **** (next to the headlight ****)down and it wouldn't come on when I opened my door. It doesn't work this way in the Ford as I am sure you all know. Is there a way to keep this light off without unplugging it or taking the fuse out? Little Miss Ella would really appreciate everyone at FTE if we could figure this out!
Thanks
Scott
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 20-Dec-02 AT 09:32 AM (EST)]I would say the easiest way to solve your issue would be to just take the bulb outta the dome light you dont want to turn on, or if you wanna get more involved , hook that light up to a switch , so you can have it in normal use when you want , then hit the switch to kill the power to it when the baby is in the truck...
what I ended up doing (for the same reason as you), was to take the lens off, and cover it with some red taillight repair tape. Enough light gets through to allow you to see, but the red diffused light is much less obtrusive for the little ones.
The next time you'll probably pay any attention to it is when Miss Ella asks: Why light red daddy? Isn't life great! It's the little things that keep it interesting.
