just went to pick up my 6.0 f250 4x4 lariet
it had a bad slip between 3rd to 4th shift
dealer agreed and its been over two weeks of trans
replacment promises ,so i just cancelled the deal
and will order another in 6months or so when they get this
problem worked out.
There is a Special Service Message (SSM) out on this problem. It calls for a reflash of the PCM. The new calibrations are available. Swapping the transmission won't help.
Your dealer should be reading the messages that Ford sends!
Yes, there was A LOT of testing. But once full scale production starts some times things are a little different.
The direct clutch return spring turned out to be made by a different process once production started compared to the prototypes. They were supposed to have the same load, but the producion ones have a higher load than the prototypes. This requires a higher pressure to start the 3-4 shift. The new calibration has the higher pressure to match the higher load spring.
