I don't know what it is about dirty dishes, but I don't even want to get near em. I'll clean-up the cat puke, work on the septic system, clean windows...but not those dishes. I stay away from the laundry after turning everything pink years ago. I'll repair the washer and dryer, but don't know how to use em. My wife, on the other hand WILL NOT cut the grass! She'll hop on the tractor to do planting and other yard work...but that grass could grow six feet tall, and she doesn't care. Fortunately, I love to cut the grass. We compliment each other!
I almost always do the dishes. I am also one of those people that washes what I use right after I use it. I usually cook and do the dishes, my fiance does most of the other cleaning. When doing dishes, I rinse everything off real good, fill the dishpan 3/4 with hot soapy water, let soak for a couple mins, wash them, put them to the side, and when the pile builds up, I turn on the hot water and rinse then repeat. Then all go into the rack and we either dry them or wait till dry and put them away...Jay
I scrub off as much stuff as possible with a brush and water, then fill the right sink with soapy hot water. Clean a bunch of dishes, stack in right sink, then rinse them off and put in rack. Repeat as needed. Will hand towel some if necessary. Then mop up around the sinks, the counter, the stove, and floor as needed. Before I die, I hope to be able to do dishes and brush my teeth without making a mess.
I find the dishwasher twice a week works most efficiently. No wasted water, which means a lower gas bill. No wasted soap, which means more money for me. And sterilized dishes out of the dishwasher means I can't get sick, which means I can enjoy the money I save on gas and soap.
I wash as I go and I wash everything then rinse them at once. I don't like to wash after the meal. Usually by the time I'm done cooking the only dishes left are the ones we eat from. I usually cook and I use the grill a lot( did you know you can bake on a grill?) My wife and daughter made cookies once and had flour on every horizontal surface and a lot of the vertical ones. I baked two hams and a twenty pound turkey and smoked a twenty pound turkey and a roast that was about twenty pounds and made a carrot cake all for a company party in the army and the mess was gone when the cake was done and I fixed the carb on my truck, its not that hard. Man I swear those guys even cleaned the juice up from the smoked roast and turkey and they thought the ham glaze was special, it was just crushed pineapple and cherry pie filling. I tend to cook simple stuff.
