washing dishes

Have another environmental science survey about the dishes. For those of you who wash dishes at home (or how you would do them if your don't) how full do you fill the sink with water? (i.e. half full, all thw way etc.) and do you let the water run constantly for rinsing?

IF I had to do them by hand, I cover the dirty ones with hot soapy water and work my way up from the bottom of the stack starting with maybe 3" of soapy water, thus keeping the dirty ones submerged. No, I wouldn't let the water for rinsing run and run either. The hot rinse water get's added to the soapy water until the sink is getting too full.

If i was to do them manually, I fill up one side of the sink full with hot water and soap, then scrbu them, then turn on the sink to rinse and put them in the other side to drip dry.

I fill up one sink half way and put a dish in the water and wash it and leave it submerged, and keep doing that until that sink is full, and then rinse them with running water in the other side of the sink, and keep repeating the process until they're all done!

I watched other people do them if possible. Although if its just me home...I do my dishes as I dirty them. A little soap on the scrubber and clean the whichever I used. Cuts down on the stacking method, no one can yell at me for that ugly stack of dishes.

We run the dishwasher once a week. But, the ones I wash by hand, I wet them down, wash them with a scrunge, rinse, then into the drainer.

Fill up left side of sink halfway with hot water and dish detergent. Fill up right side of sink halfway with clean hot water. Wash on left, drop in on right and and swirl around to get soap off. Dry on rack on counter. Actually, I guess I'm weird in that I prefer to wash my plate, cup and silverware as soon as I am done. I think I could do just fine with one of each. If you have more dishes and silverware you get lazy and let the sink pile up with dirty dishes and then you have to wash one when you need it.
*pause* Okay, now I'm officially weirded out . First a thread on mopping and now one on dishes? Next thing you know my wife is gonna be on here posting about rebuilding a carb or welding in new cab corners.

I got married for a reason!..........................

But when I do the dishes once in a while, I just leave the water running a trickle to rinse. Most of them go in the dishwasher anyways....

I put them in the dishwasher nightly. If I have pots and pans that won't get clean in the dishwasher, I fill one sink full and leave the water running in the other to rinse. To me, water is plentiful; it even falls from the sky around her.
I'm also surrounded by 1/3, IIRC, of the world's fresh water supply "the Great Lakes".

I scrub everything with one of those scrub pads on a stick filled with soap, rinse each when I'm done scrubbing (turning off the water inbetween if a lot of scrubbing is involved) and put them in the dishwasher. I then run the dishwasher when its full.

I've been married for over 33 years. In that time, I've washed dishes twice. I'll vacuum, cook, clean toilets and do other chores, but I can't stand washing dishes. There's just something about it that turns me away. I'd rather throw em out and get new ones than clean em. We have had dishwashers though, for years.

I don't mind doing dishes. She does the cooking, I do the dishes.. kinda works out better that way. I've never filled the sink before with water. I have one of those scrubber things that you fill with soap. I use hot running water and I scrub and rinse them as I go. I suspect we'll have a dishwasher whenever we buy a house.. but for now it's me.

That's interesting. My wife cooks and I generally do the dishes. I also vacuum and mop floors, but in 25 years of marriage, no toilets or laundry.
