In regards to oil filters, it has been determined by engineers that a particle of the size 40 microns will do damage to an engine. All of the filters that I am aware of will filter to 20 microns absolute. Does reducing the particulate size to say 3 microns reduce engine wear? Barely and sometimes no. If you are **** enough to argue the value of a screw on oil filter, I would suggest that you are a candidate for a bi-pass filter. Amzoil or SF-2500 will filter to 3 microns. Will it keep the oil nice and clean? If we are judging from the color- no. It will still be black if run long enough as the oil itself will hold some matter in suspension. Tests show that the oil filters value has deminished in todays engines. Some engine manufacturers are calling for no filter at all. Consider the new Triton engine. Every component is sealed and leaks are rare. Air filtration systems are exceeding requirements to slow the air media thru the filter thereby reducing the possibility of dirt getting into the engine. The engines of today are not as dirty internally as years past.
In regards to the Amzoil API certified oil, it is a Gp II+ and Gp III dino that is grossly overpriced for the value in the bottle. Amzoil recommends oil changes at 7500 miles when using it. You would be better or equally served with Castrol Syntec, it is the same base product at a much lower price.
Yup, it fits and works great. It hangs down lower than the regular filter, which allows me to get the band wrench on it easier too. I also use it on the '70 F-100.

Do you happen to know if that filter is made in their silver line? Does your motor hold 6 quarts now?
Those of you who are worried about voiding warranties should read the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. You'll find it very interesting.
I think you have some sort of misunderstanding of Magnuson-Moss. It is often misquoted. The dealer has every right to void the warranty if you use unapproved parts, fluids, etc. Did you know that Magnuson-Moss doesn't even deal specifically with automobiles? It is general warranty protection for BOTH consumer and manufacturer. HERE is the unwatered down version directly from the Federal government.
BTW, are you either an Amsoil dealer or preferred customer?
Napa Gold I think. Total to fill it was like 5.5 quarts, mine always was real sensitive about how much I put in. Used to be, 5 quarts would be right at the top of the full range, maybe a little over. I couldn't see putting in only 4.5 quarts, so the bigger filter kind of compensated for that.
Edit: I just checked, it is in the Napa Gold line. Says so right on the filter.

Good comments Flash!!!!
Just remember, Castrol doesn't have all those pockets to fill with $$, since they aren't a Multi-Level Marketing company like Amsoil!!!! That's what I have been preaching against Amsoil, the big $$ for their products isn't because it's a better product, it's because it's a MLM company...

Unless the company can prove to the FTC that only a specific "fluid" let's say, will work in there product and all others will fail, then they cannot include it in the warranty and cannot deny warranty claims unless they prove that the change caused the problem. You just have to have <the B**** >to stand up for yourself.

In the case of oil, most vehicle manufacturers just require that an oil be API certified, and it be changed at specific intervals. The majority of oils sold today are API certified, unlike Amsoil, with NON API certified oils.....
