AMSOIL Filters
Who makes AMSOIL filters?
Do they make em themselves? I am not interested in starting another amsoil debate, I use it, love it, period, go right down monroe street here in spokane to a AMSOIL "store" (I would assume hes some bigtime MLM guy
) anyhow....Im trying to research their filters to decide if I should use something else in conjunction with their own oil, both for my mustang, and for our 2001 mazda 626
Any info on their filters and who makes them and what they look like when cut open?

It may be a Baldwin
Over on www.bobistheoilguy.com, the filter study indicates that Amsoil filters resemble Baldwin components internally, for about half the price.

I use synthetic oil in my vehicles and change it and the filter every 6 months.
One vehicle does 14000 an the other 8500 a year.
I use an Amsoil oil filter for the 14K vehicle because it's rated for 12500 miles.
The only oil filter that advertises that amount of mileage.
So 7000 miles in 6 months should be no problem for an Amsoil oil filter.
A Pure One is used for the 8500 per year vehicle.
One vehicle does 14000 an the other 8500 a year.

Wouldn't a filter that "filters well" need to be changed more often? It would seem that the only way a filter wouldn't need to be changed more often is if it lets more particles through. Is the Amsoil rating for when it's used in combination with a bypass filter?

Amsoil filters are made by the same company that makes Hastings/Baldwin filters and do not cost half the price! The Baldwins are well over HALF the cost of a Amsoil and after opening up both, I say the Baldwin is the better filter. The Amsoil filter(both were Ford FL1 type filters) had 42 folds of paper to Baldwins 68 folds with every thing else being the same - bypass and backflow. The Amsoil was about $8.00 and the Baldwin less than $3.00. Which had the better paper?? Don't know but I'll bet Amsoil will 'claim' it does as everything they sell is better - just ask them how good they are, they will tell you!

any company that is dedicated to quality will say its the best, what are they supposed to say "we suck"????? that'd be a great business strategy

"The AMSOIL SDF-20 filter is well constructed and lab tests show that it's an excellent filter. At 6350 miles this filter was able to generate the above lab test report and show that 10w40 oil in an H22A4 causes no problems. On the other hand, it's big brother the SDF-44 did not filter oil well at 13,000 miles. Proving that an oversized filter is not always a good thing when it comes to filtration."

That's not the point.
The test shows an Amsoil filter does well for many miles.
The 7000 miles I put on one is no problem.
