FX4 Seals

Anyone out there notice a lot of dust finding it's way in the cab when running off road? I've noticed obvious dust leaking in around the interior door handle and some other places but haven't really trouble shooted it yet, I'm curious if others are having the same issues.

No, when off road I make sure to set the climate control to "off" position...that way the vents will seal off. I don't see much dust come in then.

A lot of people prefer to keep the vents open to keep a high air pressure in the cab. Keeps air/dust coming in from the other places. Air will leak in by door handles naturally, air has to vent somewhere when you try to close the door or something.

That makes sense it just seems the door seals aren't working real hot on mine all the way around. I've already cleaned it all up but on the next outing I'll snap a couple of photos and post them.... see what you guys think when you see it. I think that before I go out again I'll condition the seals with something, ya know, something to moisturize them a bit and see if that helps a bit. I don't typically run with the vents open so it shouldn't be getting in there much and I haven't really noticed it around the vents either. Seems to come in the bottoms of the doors and out of the door panel in areas that aren't sealed up. Pretty freakin' frustrating really, that dang black interior is hard enough to keep clean as it is..

I had a similar problem with my 01, the driver side would leak at the car wash. The dealer replaced it under warranty, and its never happened again.

I haven't had any problems with water though, just dust, even being the only person out on the road pretty much and only meeting a couple of cars, if you saw the inside of my truck after a half a day you'd think I was playing trailer behind a line of rigs with the windows down. I haven't actually ran my truck through the car wash but in the heaviest rains I haven't had a problem..... <????> Just don't know what the deal is..........

I dont think my seals are right. I get alot of wind noise around the doors. I am very unhappy with this. I am going to have the dealer take a look. I have heard rumors about seal problems....but who knows?? Mine is a FX4 03

I have the same year and model Mark, I have to take mine in to get the door lock switch replaced, I'll run the seal thing by them.... let me know what you find out. Also, take a look at the side window seal on the passenger side. The main door window. The upper rear corner on the outside of the truck, does yours pooch out and look funky compared to the driver side?

Distilld, guess what, the driver side will catch up! I had both of mine replaced, and they ended up the same way.

I'm kind of starting to think these Rangers are Lemons ya know.... How about this: go to the back of your truck and look at the gap between the back door and the cab. Do you see a difference? The gap on the driver's side of my truck is almost twice as wide as the passenger side.....
