I recently had my 04 4x4 SCAB leveled an installed larger tires and new rims,
Goodyear Wrangler MTR's 305/70/17. In just the last two weeks I have noticed that very soon after a wash and a little driving, a black dust coats the sides of the truck.
I dont notice that much of a build up on the rims, so I wonder if it really is brake dust. I am sure this is a dumb question but, is this dust possibly coming from the tires themselves.
Thanks,
Well did you get an alignment? maybe your wheels are not alighned and cheewing up on the road. Do you have any feathering of the threads? Do you hear any unusual tire noise at moderate to high speeds? A slight out of alighnmet can cause big tire damage. But I don't know if you will get black stuff on side of vehicle.
Wow that would mean your brakes must be working hard. Do you have to push down harder on your brakes since the tire upgrade. If you went to bigger tires, then your rolling mass has increased and maybe your brakes are working harder. Just guessing.
