I'm currently in the process of building rear boxes for added storage and 12" subs. Does anyone have any suggestions about what features to add, or building tips, where to get good auto carpet... Anything that you think would help. Thanks in advance!
In case you have red interior the "carmine" is a pretty good match.
As far as your box I need as much space as possible so I am going to install mine in the recesses of the rear panels like this:
You won't have as much airspace like this so you have to make sure you have the correct speakers. For more pictures of this type of installation go here: http://usdaudio.com/sw/cars/bronco/
Hope this helps!
hey oregonian, im not too good in electronics like sound systems for cars so i was just wondering what you meant by airspace and what the correct speakers are, is it better to have more or less? probably common sense but idk, thanks

Kinda hard to explain, but every speaker has an ideal environment to produce the frequencies it is designated for. Some speakers are catorgorized as "free air" meaning it doesn't need a ported enclosure which usually results in less air space needed. (ideal for small boxes in standard pick ups, etc.) Every quality speaker should say how much cubic feet of airspace is needed to run the speaker to its optimum. see here: http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/produ...r%20Subwoofers
If you click on "enclosure' it will give you details on the different types of enclosures (free air, ported, sealed, etc.)
this speaker recommends 1.25 cubic feet of air space in a ported box to run at its optimum. Somewhere I have a formula that will tell you what dimensions to build a box for, for its recommended airspace. If you need it I can try to dig it up.
