Catalytic Converter Removal
My dad wants to cut the cats completely out of his exhaust system and run straight pipes through glasspacks. His trucks 1997 F-250 LD 4x4 Whats going to happen to the the engine if this happens? Is there anything that will affect how the engine will run if you take the cats out? Thanks in advance!

It will unless you get the o2 eliminator kits for it. They fool the computer into thinking that they are working.
You will lose low end torque for towing but gain a little high rpm hp. It will be awful loud though. I always hated the way that glasspacks sounded, and they are more restrictive that you think!!!

Malfunction Indicator Light. AKA service engine soon light. AKA check engine light.
All 96-up vehicles have OBD-II diagnostics. They use o2 sensors before the cats to control fuel mixture and o2 sensors after the cats to monitor if they are working properly. If you remove the cats, the rear o2 sensors will sense that they are gone/not working and turn on the MIL.

i have mine removed and no lite came on even without the tuner on it go with a walker or a flowmaster or dyno max muffler it will save you the time of having to change the glasspack later after it is dead your engine needs back pressure and you will loose more torq with the glasspack
