I have a 2001 Excursion Limited with the 7.3 Powerstroke Engine. It currently has 34,103 miles and I am considering the Rancho RSX shock for it. My Excursion is 2wd and does not go off road. I also have the Helweig rear anti-sway bar and I am looking for somthing with a good ride but stable on the interstate when the wind blows. Has any tried this shock, or is there another one that may meet my needs better?
Kenny, I've had a set on my Expy for a couple years now and really like them. These shocks eliminated nearly all the "bounce" and significantly reduced body roll. I couldn't believe how nicely a 6000# 4x4 truck could handle after installing them. They are however fairly firm, but I like firm over soft, especially in a 4x4.
I priced the Monroe Reflex at Advance Auto and they were 44.90 each, with a $30.00 rebate. I found the Rancho RSX's buy three get one free online for under $150.00 with free shipping. It looks like the Ranchos might get the nod.
I'm going to place an order for the RSX Ranchos with Sam's off road this morning. I am looking forward to the mod! Thanks for all of the help. I do have one final queston through do they mount boot up or boot down?
