Yikes! That's disturbing . . . both the thought of a gallon of pickles AND what Walmart is doing. "Buy American" while we send all the business overseas. Isn't that great?

You can no longer trust a brand name and the quality that it USED to represent. Many manufacturers now make cheaper products for these "mega-retailers," even though they carry that same trusted brand-name. High-end plumbing, window & door, tool, carpet, and wallpaper manufacturers have been doing this for some time now for the large home-improvement centers. THAT'S how they can sell it cheaper than the home-town guy down the street. It's NOT the same product. Do you really think that a Pella window or a John Deere tractor at Home Depot is the same thing they sell through the regular retailers? Not for those prices they don't!

Retailer

Saw the W word mentioned a couple of times. Heard a figure the other night that astounded me. Our trade deficit if I can remember is something nearing a trillion dollars, or a few bucks more than I manage in our checking account. China represents the largest segment of that, and Wal-Mart accounts for 12% of the Chinese imports. What did their ads use to say about selling US products?
As to brand labels anymore, there have been so many mergers, outsourcing, etc., that brands don't mean what they once did. In a merger, the first thing to happen is downsizing, merging plants and so on. And pretty soon, a brand name that at one time stood for excellence, now represents just another source for junk from China.

OK,I read the article(by the way anybody else scroll down and see what the CEO of Snapper had to say,not good!And now I give you guys the right to flame me,kick me,slap me up side da head,etc.
The chair=Made in china
The doorbell=made in china
The heater=made in china
The flashlight=made in china
So much for Brand names,
Levi=gone
American flyer=gone
Chrysler=going,going,going
By the way,anybody else think about this?The same factories that produced the weapons to defeat the germans are now owned by them!
I sit here and wonder what my grandchildren and greatgrandchildren have instore for them.It scares me.
I watched a tv program the other night about china,and all the counterfit garbage that they are producing,and the irony of their own government unwilling to stop it because it will cripple THEIR economy!What a joke,WE NEED TO BAN ALL IMPORTS FROM CHINA.But this is really not all their fault.It is funny how they mentioned A&P in that article,That one hit home,My dad worked his whole life for them,retiring from management,a few years ago,In the area we live,there are alot of non-union grocery chains,so A&P went to the union and asked for concessions,explaining that in order to stay competitive,they HAD to have them,or they would be forced to close very many stores and put lots of people outof work,well guess what happened.There are no more A&P stores in all of upper Michigan!Unions where great back years ago,but I think things have gotten way out of hand.
Guys in factories making $20hr to sweep the floors,deadbeats who go to work and find places to hide all day,and cant be fired,companies leaving our country so they wont have to deal with unions or mandatory things they require.Dont get me wrong,unions have their good points too,but man,where is this all leading?
