hi, I have to drop a new engine in my 2000 b4000 truck. i have found a great deal on a ford 4L with REALLY low kms (less than 10000). will this work? i heard that it will fit but i will need to work on the lower intake to make it work properly. can anyone give me some advice? I'm trying to do this the least expensive way, i have a guy to install for me but if it's going to take too much work to get the engine running ok then i'd rather go with a b4000 engine with a few more kms just to save on labour. thanks in advance.
what about if it came from an explorer? i was told by a guy at the wreckers that it's the same. just the lower intake part. it's crazy cuz i'm getting different answers from everybody. thanks for your input.
Way back when I had a Mazda, the old engine finally gave up and I found a new one by looking in the yellow pages and finding used engines. The one I bought ($400.) had EVERYTHING in place when I got it - carb, generator, starter, clutch. The water hoses were still on it (they were cut). They said it had 32K on it. It bolted up, started and gave me good service until I sold it a year later. Good luck.
