My dad has owned this truck since day one and it has always had the following from what he and I remmeber:
Interior: Custom cab with the plastic white door trim, red door handles, headliner with the chex pattern, red seat and a black pad dash .
Engine: 240 with a three speed
Exterior: Wimbledon White with what appears as a Poppy Red Ext trim. All red trim fenders etc..are red or poppy red on the inside and out. No repaint or color change at all from what I can see. (see gallery).
Why Does my code show just M for Wimbledon White? am I missing something or better yet what color of red is this thing. Paint is faded hopefully gallery will give you guys an idea. Just about ready for paint and I don't want to put the wrong color of red on the thing.
as usual without this group I would never had made it this far on the project.
thx in advance.

I'm still confused as to why the paint code M for Wimb White is the only code listed on the VIn. Did Ford just list the base coat code? Only the trim and hood are white sides and inside bed, top of cab is Red.
thx again
A = 240 I-6
K = Kansas City Assembly Plant
760538 = 1966
129 = 129" Wheelbase
5 = This is the code for the red, but I have no ref for " 5 " check the code again.
M = Wimbleton White
F100 = F100
E = Red Crush Vinyl / Red Cody Pattern Woven Plastic
81 = 81B Custom Cab
C = Ford 3 Speed Manual All Syncro Transmission
08 = 3.50-1 / Ford 9 Inch Rear Axle / 3300 lb capacity
0500 = 5000 lb GVW
129 HP @ 4000 RPM
53 = Kansas City District
The only paint code listed for F100/350's from 1964 thru 1969 is the letter J. ...which is Rangoon Red. However, Ford used to introduce new colors in the Spring months. So if the code is in fact a 5, you will have to contact a local Automotive Paint Supply Store (where body shops buy paint and supplies)...these places have actual color charts.

129 5M <<< tu toned vehicles have two paint codes. You have listed 5M. There is no 5 code listed in my three Ford paint code sources...see my decode post above.
Why Does my code show just M for Wimbledon White?

So if the 5 turns out to be an S = it's Poppy Red, not Rangoon Red which is a J code. All the paint codes listed by Ditzler, Thomas Lacquer Co. or anyone else were originally drawn from info provided by Ford Motor Co., and mistakes were made...especially on springtime colors.
Here is another goof by Ford...the letter Y used to ID a 352 engine in 1966. Only the letter D is listed in Ford parts books, and several decoder charts. But Y is correct for 1966 352's, it was a springtime engine code change! The D was used earlier in 1966 (and all of 1965). Ford isn't perfect!

Don't have time tonight but Sunday night or Monday I will put some pictures of the VIN in a Gallery for you. The VIN tag is in excellent shape and very clear. I will also shoot some pictures of the door jams inside doors to give you an idea of the color I'm looking at. This is about to drive me nuts ..one minute it looks like poppy red and the next it looks like rangoon red. Since I'm at the body off frame paint stage I want to make sure I have the correct red. I wonder when this truck was manufactured?
Thx for all your help...you guys are great.

An Automotive Paint Supply Store, by using a computer, can match your color from a sample chip (get it from an area not exposed to the weather, like behind the seat, or on the face of the door, or hinge post).

Caveat: First thing~As the chart states~Colors may be different..depending on your computer screen.
The second link~color code B~Pagoda Green is several times lighter in real life than the picture shows! I had a 64 Galaxie 500XL in Pagoda Green...A yucky color!
Have the automotive paint store match your chip~it can be done.
I actually found a salvage yard that had 4 of these trucks yest. One had some decent parts, the rest were scrap (no cores) man I felt like my wife and daughters shopping in a shoe store. I was giddy just to find one of these things had a few parts left on them. Are you guys finding these trucks are getting harder to locate. They sure are in my neck of the woods.
have a great day.
