Those w/ Oct 03 Flash...
Hey All:
I have the october 03 flash on my 6.0 PSD and wanted to ask if I should update it to the december 03 flash (or whatever is the latest flash)? Is the oct 03 flash the one that makes the engine loud? It seems that my engine is a bit louder than the other 6.0 PSDs I've heard. Plus, my mileage isn't that great either, although I've been doing a lot of in town driving lately. One good thing to mention here...I've got a 12/02 build date on my engine and have had no problems...I've got 19500 miles already. I don't think all the early build 6.0s are all flawed. Anyway...take care and any advice will help.

I have an early (March) 03. The Dec flash is a slight improvement over the Oct flash. Still noisy. See http://www.flatratetech.com/6literpo...l_updates.html for the flash updates and what they do. Ford is supposed to come out with a fix for the poor mileage and loss of acceleration.

Yes, get the 12/12/03 (December 03 flash). There are improvements that are in addition to the October flash.
As far as I have read and heard, "Mum is the word" for new flashes for the 6.0L PSD motor. People have wished for it, some think a January 04 one exists (but it doesn't) and others say one is comming... I am not sure if one is!!!
According to Ford, they have "no comment" regarding flashes and according to my dealer, they have heard nothing. They claim that their regional tech people have said that mileage might be down from what we originally had, but that overall mileage is OK.
Seems to me that if "chipping your truck" or using the Predator to reprogram your PCM is so easy then why wouldn't Ford do it as an "official" reflash??
I have seen a reduction snce I got flashed in October, but many "poor mileage" issues might be from improper reflashing techniques.
