map sensor

just wonder if any one can explain the function of map sensor and if it could lead to poor fuel mpg.

The PCM uses the MAP sensor to determine boost (intake manifold pressure) and for EGR cycles. Sounds logical that it might. You might want to ask that of the techs over on http://flatratetech.com/6literpowers...ultimatebb.cgi

truck in shop for poor fuel mpg tech. says he belives the problem is map sensor. will let you know what I find out tomorrow when I pick up truck,It sure would be great if it fixed my mpg problem.
