Current Recalibration Code for 6.0L Owners?

Does anyone out there know what the current recalibration code is for the 6.0L diesel? Has there been an updated one since Oct. of 2003? I have an 04 6.0L PSD built on Sept. of 03. It was flashed in Oct. of 2003 and my milege went up unlike everyone elses seeming dropped. Topped out at 19.2 highway. Has dropped lately here to 13.4 on the highway. Dealer says there is a new recal code since october of 03? Is this true, orf are they filling me full of BS? My truck is a 6-speed not a torque shift 5 speed. So I would think it would be an entirely different program wouldn't it? I know the automatic's idle alot lower.

Built To Last, Built To Kick Dodge's A$$
2004 F-350 CC, LB, Fx4, 6.0L, 6speed, Black, Sunroof, Tinted Glass on all windows, 6 disc, polished aluminums, 285 BFG AT's, 4inch straight thru exhaust with a ITP 6 inch tip.

The Dec -03 flash is that last one for MOST6-oh's - the later ones were for high altitude or Calif only... IIRC...

PAN,

Need to follow the link that SBV45 posted to determine which flash you need. Correct flash is based on enging build date. Engines built 09-28-03 and before are 03 engines, engines built 09-29-03 and after are 04 engines. The flashes are different.

From Fordtech1, B29.6 revision 1/30/04
This flash is only for 04 engines built 09-29-03 and after.

There has been only one flash for the 04 motors but, there are eight flashes for the 03 motors (built 09-28-03 and before). Last 03 flash was in December 03.

You need to check your engine build date sticker located on the FICM left valve cover at firewall by degass bottle.

Hope this helps

I received my truck from Ford on Sept. the 14th approx. It's an 03 engine I would say unless they got a wild hair somewhere to yank an 04 early.

Tip-in = Press on gas and go!!!

Tip-out = Let up on gas and slow down.

It's the "lag" or "play" in the gas peddel (sorry guys, it's the fuel peddel.

Thanks,

Jeff

Don't do Dec. flash if you want engine braking in 4th & 5th gears.

Why did Ford decide to get rid of engine braking in the higher gears? It was nice to be able to go down a steep hill with my 10,000# trailer and let Tow/Haul mode hold it at 55 MPH rather than ride the brakes. BTW, I did this with a '03 truck, not my current '04.

The engine braking is there on 4th and 5th but you need to apply the brakes firmly first. I tried it with my boat.
