1996 E-150 5.0 Liter, Check Engine light

AT 56K miles, I have a "check engine" light on. Are there typical problems I can expect at this low a mileage, or is this an unusual occurance?

You will need to read the codes to know what is going on.
If you don't have a code reader, maybe take the truck to a parts store to see if they can read it for you.

engine check light

I know the Zone can check engine codes. Do they check ABS, tranny, and air bag codes also??

I've got 132K miles on my 91 and the check engine comes on occasionally and just goes out again as mysteriously as it came. Can you read a code when the lamp isn't lit?

i went to autozone a few months back and asked about them reading a code for me. they told me that they don't do that anymore because Auto mechanics complained that the parts guys were not ASE certified. i don't know if this was just local to me or if it's nationwide.
