Question Engine light and check fuel cap light

My engine light and check fuel cap lights are on , I've check the fuel cap and made sure it was tight. If there is a problem with my fuel cap could this affect my engine light sensor.

Yes, but there also could be a leak in the evap system causing them also. A smoke machine should be used to determine what is leaking.
