5000 is way to much. A used car lot is allways looking for suckers. Ask them for a carfax report. Don't pay over 2500 for it. You will find another truck at the price u want theres lots of rangers out there. Just my opinion
Yeah,i agree. Will they give me a carfax report on it? I think that they are just trying to get a sucker, which i'm not, like i said, my dad is going to call the guy he knows and see what he can sell it for. I mean if they got the thing for 1100 on a trade, they should sell if for like 2200 or somthing, cause they know and we know, if they dont sell it soon they'll wind up paying more than that just to insure the thing on the lot
Oh yeah, by the way, its been sitting in the lot for like 4 days, and i saw an add in the paper, they allready lowered the price to 3995. I dont think they will hold that ground for alot longer either!
I found a 1988 Ford ranger 2wd, looks pretty solid, rebuilt title, with only 67,000 miles all this for the low price of $1,600(thats asking price). So a 4wd shouldn't be much more than that, I would think.
I'm waiting to pounce till I get a job, my parents won't give me any money
I didnt know the 89's had the electric shift 4x4 thing. And it has the autolocking hubs, so i can hit the dealer with that to bring the price down a little, those items that are prone to failure. It also has the manual mirrors, which look like crap, and like they are falling off. And part of the window molding is half off, creating a horrible whistling sound when you drive. I can also tell him the 2.9's are prone to cracking heads.
Just sit down at his desk and tell him "I'll pay 2000 (or 2500 if you have it) for it and that's it." He'll take it to his manager and come back with 3700 or something probably written on paper. Take the paper and write $2000 (or again, 2500), circle it again, and say, "Show him again!" If he comes back and it's still not close. Say sorry, that's all I have. If he asks why do you think that's all it's worth, say "trade-in is X, you're still making money off of it, and it's all I have. Take it or leave it." Then start scooting away from the desk. Let him take it to his manager one more time, and if it's still not what you want, say here's my name and number, let me know when you get down to (name your price). He'll call back soon if he's smart. Good luck, negotiating isn't fun
thanks for the info. I appreciate it, i've never really negotiated on a vehicle before. I hope i get it, its like all i can think about. I just like the idea of having somthing of my own, plus its a stick!
