is it true that any truck under a 96' does not need to pass emitions? i really need to cut that damn cat off and i was told that my truck doesn't need to pass emitions. anyone kno? thanks
I do not know if your truck has to pass emmissions or not. It is a pain, but you can run a straight pipe through a cat. This will get you past the visual part of the test anyway. If it was me, I would buy a good high flow cat.

That depends on where you live.
In St. Louis it would have to be a '70 or previous to avoid emmisions. There is no indication that this date will ever change.
You can get "historic" vehicle plates for anything 25 years or older ('79) if you are willing to keep detailed mileage logs and drive no more than 1000 miles a year.
Diesels, and some alternative fuel engines are exempt.
