PFE sensor bad?
The PFE sensor on my 94 ranger 2.3 l makes a buzzing noise at certain rpms as it revs up and it almost seems that it chokes the motor a little. the truck idles rough also. could this be the problem for the rough idling? Is the pfe supposed to buzz? help

I don't think the DPFE sensor is supposed to buzz. Mine don't.

If the hoses going to/from the sensor and the EGR valve are leaking, that could affect your idle.

one hose was split but that has been replaced

A stuttering idle and a choking motor when revving like you describe can also be caused by a fuel system problem, such as a clogged fuel filter or a failing fuel pump.

The IAC valve can make a buzzing sound, and also controls the idle speed. I would try cleaning the IAC valve first.

You really can't clean them except clearing the ports.

A DPFE (instead of PFE) sensor is about $75 from the Ford dealer
