Just ordered the following vehicle and am paying $400 over Edmunds' Invoice price. Seem fair?
Y2K F-250 SD Extended cab, short bed, 4x4, XLT,
4.10 LS, trailer tow, camper pack, auto trans, off-road pack, 5.4L, shift on fly 4x4, auto hubs, Class IV hitch, sliding rear window, privacy glass. Cost $27691 (not including tax, document fee, smog test, title fee, registration.
Also, I realize that the 5.4 will be no rocket especially if I load a camper. I got the 4.10 to help out and have had years of experience making anemic engines better as I've owned a 4.0L OHV Explorer for the past 8 years.
Very fair.. You saved alot by being educated, and the dealer is also making enough to stay in business.
I have a Y2k F250 xlt SC 4x2 5.4L 5sp 4.10LS+ options.
Although its not a V10, my SD is no slouch either.. I can easily keep up with traffic from light to light. On the highway I can pull hills easily in OD. In my opinion, the 4.10 is a great ratio.. It keeps the engine at a great RPM range if you say close to the speed limits (<70 mph).
MPG is great at 16.0 with mixed city/highway driving, and almost 18 when I took a recent trip that was mostly highway..
You mpg will be slightly less because of 4x4 and auto tranny..
good deal, similar to what I got for my F250 similar configuration. The dealer keeps 3% hold back and the sales folks get some of the take above invoice.
