Can't wait to hear how your trip went. Drown a couple worms for me.
Dusty1.....I'm back from Kentucky Lake. On the way to Kentucky I averaged 13.1 mpg pulling a 3000 lb. boat at 70 mph. On the return trip home I averaged 12.4 mpg at 80 mph. The truck handled very well. I guess I am in the minority, I love this truck. It rides great, it's quiet, (except for the Audiophile), and it has more than enough power.
The fishing was below average compared to prior fishing trips. A cold front passed through a few days before we arrived and the crappie moved back out to deeper water. I caught and relaeased a 3 lb-4oz large mouth. My 25-year old son caught and "kept" a 8 lb-11oz large mouth!
It's been a lot of years since I caught a Large Mouth over 5 pounds. Congrats to your son!
Sounds like you enjoyed the drive to and from almost as much as getting to your destination!
Can't say I blame you there, I've got about 1800 miles on the F150 now, and I'm very pleased with it. I've got a minor problem with throttle delay, and I hope the mechanic agrees with me Monday. Other than that, I'm very happy with it.
Tough choice, but I chose the scab. One, I also like the way it looks...more like a real pickup. Two, I only have two little ones...one sixteen year old daughter, and a german shorthaired pointer. The pointer REALLY likes the rear roll down windows. And the sixteen year old has all the room she needs, and more. Occasionally, the wife is assigned the back seat, and she likes it fine.
Another point is that even as long as this scab is, it still fits in my garage......though barely.
The main reason I like my Fx4 scab is the 6.5 ft bed. With a shell and a sleeper kit (carpet kit), I don't need to tow a trailer to go hunting or fishing in some remote area. I just curl up with Rosie... the dog, not the wife, in the bed, with all the room a 6.5 foot bed gives me.. I'm not weird, just married a looooong time. Either way you choose, I hope you have as much fun with your new F-150 as I have with mine.
5500 miles and NO problems yet...Knocks on wood (head).
