Code 24

Hi everyone

89 E150 4.9L

KOEO.....I get a code 24, my code book says "Intake Air Charge Temperature (ACT,IAT) sensor or Vane Air Temperature (VAT) sensor out of range.

Is this the Air Bypass Valve on top of the throttle Body ?

Another thing....between the tank and the high pressure pump is a round black cannister.....is there a filter in it ?

No. There is an air temp sensor in the intake manifold (I can't tell you exactly where - I'm not too familiar with the I6's). I think there is a small screen in the black canister, yes. There is an o-ring in there that will probably need replacing when you take it apart.

The intake air temp sensor is in the number one runner, but you have to remove the heater hose that runs between the upper and lower intake to get it out. If it's stock, a 7/8" deep socket on a swivel will get it out. Some aftermarket ones are a different size.
