hello, I was wondering who makes the best air intake system. I heard Tymar makes a nice one but I have little luck finding them. I have a 99 superduty 7.3
thanks
You have to buy the Tymar from Tymar Performance. Send me an email and I'll give you the information (not supposed to post it). I would definately recommend that you NOT get the K&N for reasons already mentioned.
if you want a stock appearing engine bay, I can highly recommend the AIS severe duty intake from Ford/Motorcraft.
I tried a Tymar style setup, and while it does flow good......my priorities were with looks and protection.
The AIS seems to flow as good as a tymar setup without all the noise fromt he air-intake and turbo. For most mild to moderate setups the AIS flows more than enough air.
On the flip side, if all out performance, and you plan to mod your setup severely.........and dont care about the looks, changing filters a little more frequently........then go with the tymar.
and god help me, I would be the one to spill something on an open element while working on the truck...............the open element just wasnt for me. I dont care for an open element being so close to the battery, any acid gets on the filter and you dont realize it.............
Many folks love the tymar, dont get me wrong, it just seems you need to weigh out your own needs and priorities.
For me I would rather have my air intake protected some way.
I'm not too affraid to run an open elemnt because i've run them on most of my other vehicles, hows the tymar sound? im looking for something to change the noise of my stock setup
thanks
