LLS Capacity?

We have a 2000 Expy, 5.4 with LLS. Were getting ready to upgrade our camper to a 25ft. trailer that has a 530lb hitch weight. As far as GVWR im well within my limits. However, im trying to decide whether I will need a weight Distribution hitch or not. My camper dealer feels that with the LLS I might not need it. I really need to know the capacity of the LLS because I dont want to exceed its limits. Just how much is to much for these LLS systems?

Before I bought my 26 ft. TT, I asked the dealer how it towed with the LLS. He had one just like mine. He said he tried it both ways, and it was fine either way. So I took delivery without a W/D hitch and found he was right. I use to friction type sway bars and that's all I need. I tow 5260 lbs, with a tongue weight of 550 lbs. I"ve got 15K miles on this rig with no problems on all kinds of roads in all kinds of weather.

Your Expy LLS is designed to handle the maximum cargo weight of the axle and tire ratings. Hitch wieght is included in that measurement. So unless you load up the back with lead or rock or firewood, you will be okay with 530 lbs of tongue weight.

Based on a 13,000 GCWR for my '97 4x4 with 5.4l you should have a leftover capacity of 1100-1500 lbs for people, luggage, fuel and stuff in the back after you hook up with 530 lbs tongue weight and about 5300 lbs of TT.
