84 F350 fuel problem

84 F350 fuel problem
My 84 F350 will not continue to run after about 5 seconds after start up. Should the intank fuel pumps run with the key in the start position?
I have replaced 1 fuel pump and check the other and they both run fine. this problem came on all of a sudden. I blew out the fuel lines and changed the fuel filter. I get fuel to the carb only when i turn the key into the start position and the motor turnes over. when the key returned to the run position the fuel flow stops.
Do i have a electrical problem. If si how do I trobleshoot it?
