Improving towing mileage for 03' diesel e350

Just got the van and will be towing a trailer about 40,000 miles this year and wanted to know if a chip is going to improve mileage. I know they increase HP but how do they effect mileage? If it will help which one would be the best?
Thanks for any help.

A 50-65HP Diablo tune almost always increase mileage, provided that you don't have a lead foot. Installation is tougher with the vans (not much room under the hood!) so you may want to consider a Superchips Microtuner instead. Also, I strongly urge that you get an intake kit and EGT gauge when chipping or tuning a Powerstroke van because they tend to run hotter EGTs than the trucks.
