silicone rubber works wonders, clean the snot out of area, use something like ether (spray start) for final rinse. use finger to mash it in good, build up area a little, wait 24 hrs. Maybe a second coat over a larger area. I usually get a year or more.

I dont know where i got it but i once found a silver silicone to seal a leak on a motorcycle block, lasted 2 years and didn't show

Leaky oil pan

Try using a metal screw with a rubber washer on it like they use on the roofs on metal buildings. You should be able to pick them up at a local lumberyard, or get a boiler screw at a hardware (same thing), they will be in those thin flat boxes with specialty items. (fastners).
You might want to use some RV Blue silicone from an auto parts store against the pan, and NOT the silicone you buy in a home center. It won't hold for the long haul like the RV BLUE will.

Good Luck,HAL_419

Need to replace a leaky oil pan gasket on my V8 302. Apparantly it can be done without hoisting the engine, but is a real pain in the ***. Anyone have experience doing this?
Yep, I did it with my dad. Get a one piece gasket from Ford, and you and a friend should be done in about 2 hours. The pan will drop enough to get the old gasket out and to clean the mating surfaces (shouldn't be much to clean if it had a one piece in it before) and snake the gasket up there underneath the crank. Don't have to move the engine at all.

Hi,
Please note if the oil pan is rusted through, replace the pan. All the goop in the world will not repair it. Also I would not want to be driving on the highway when the JB weld, silicone, duct tape, or the ex-wifes mashed potatos, fall off or out thus draining the oil. This is not a good thing for the engine.
Also please do not even consider welding the oil pan while its in the vehicle, remember there is gasoline in there, and you will have a explosive suprise as a result. (trust me,from a past experiance)
Good luck,Tom
